My Story
I'm ready to help
The design world is full of moody, unpredictable designers. That's not me. My goal is both your satisfaction and an effective product. I will hit deadlines, pick up the phone, keep you up-to-date on projects and get it finished. All with some fun along the way - laughter is important after all. Here are a few testimonials.
Open Sky Ideas
If you're wondering where Open Sky Ideas is - this is it! After seven years, I decided it was time for a company re-name. I still technically do business as Open Sky Ideas, llc. I just want to present a more personal identity.
My work background
Open Sky Ideas
I started my own design company in 2012. My specialty is identity, collateral design and illustration. Having my own company has provided amazing opportunities to guide clients through many different types of projects. I can get it done. And if I can't, I have friends that can help.
Advertising Agencies
All of my agency experience has been in Nashville, and it was very important to establish a "get it done" approach to my work. I know what it is to balance 5 deadlines at a time - while still providing great products.
In-House Design Departments
I've also been a part of corporate design departments during my time in Denver. This was foundational in establishing my emphasis on consistent design and the importance of streamlined teamwork.

A bit more about me
I can think of at least two teachers that predicted a career in art for me. I shrugged it off as I dreamed of becoming an NPS park ranger. The love of the outdoors has continued to grow well after my graphic design path started. In fact, if I'm not sitting at this computer or spending time with my family, I'm likely on the trail (hiking or mountain biking). It's where I recharge.
I met my wife April in 1995 while scooping ice cream and serving breakfast muffins and coffee at Old Faithful Lodge. We are blessed with three amazing kids, and live south of Nashville. We are members at Church of the City. We have also been on a 10-year health journey for April (click here to visit her site).
